North Platte Nebraska

We are still in ranching and cowboy country after traveling along US 83 from Garden City KS to North Platte NE. We took the trolley tour in Dodge City before heading out on Tuesday. That tour was very worthwhile offering a glimpse of the past as well as the present. Dodge City is home to some of the largest feed lots in the world fattening up millions of cattle a year. The pens stretch as far as your eye can see. The tour included the Fort Dodge grounds which is now the Kansas Veterans Home. We stopped for steaks for lunch on the way north.

The weather remains hot and sunny. It cooled off nicely for comfortable sleeping at the Holiday Trav-L-Park close to the I-30 intersection. We opted for a movie last night to be cool and comfy until the sun went down. Now the laundry is done and we are headed to the Sandhills in Nebraska.
