I always wanted to go to one of those big RV rallies and I got my chance this year. We signed up to attend the 2006 rally at Daytona Beach, FL when we were members of the Naples Good Sam chapter. Turns out no one else registered. So we are off even though we have moved to Georgia. I head off to the International Speedway in the Westy while Dan works in West Virginia. It only takes a few minutes to get parked. The system is very well organized. My request to be close to a rest room is honored. I get a spot in the parking lot next to a commercial porta pot and large generator. Our GTRV is the smallest vehicle present. It's hot and crowded. Fortunately, shuttle trams run frequently and include a stop right next to my spot. This rally is really geared toward big self-contained rigs. There is electricity, thank heaven, otherwise, we would really have suffered from the heat without being able to run the air conditioner. It is a thrill to ride on the real speedway even though it is on a tram. Those banked turns are much steeper than I ever imagined. The entertainment is on the track and we sit in the bleachers. There are RVs as far as you eye can see.
Dan arrived after 11 p.m. at night after having some trouble getting in the gate.
