Horseback riding and home

We set the alarm to get up and out of here in time for Dan to go horseback riding at the nearby Roosevelt Stables. It is a cool and crisp morning requiring a long sleeved shirt. Even with the 8 a.m. alarm, several campers are up and making noises around their campsites. I smell coffee in the air. We were on the road by 9:30 am managing breakfast and breaking camp chores. Dan thoroughly enjoyed his hour long ride through the woods and along a stream bed. He rode Moose, a big white retired barrel riding house. When Dan asked the guide what kind of people usually ride Moose, she said, “Kids.”

By the time I cleaned the bugs off the windshield, which requires getting on a stool and using a long pole to reach parts of the high windshield, I only had a few minutes on the porch swing to read and listen to my iPod before Dan is back.

Our next stop was Warm Springs, GA. We had a nice lunch at the Victorian Tea Room, checked out a few shops in town and then headed back home. It was an easy trip with only one stop for peach ice cream at Lane’s, only 10 miles from home. We traveled 440 miles and bought gas for $2.029 in Pine Mountain. That is the lowest amount for gas since we moved to Georgia in November 2005.
